They you are probably driving your mouse through XFree86.  Try
restarting that (<CTRL><ALT><BACKSPACE>).

Keep in mind this will kill anything you have running under X so save
and exit first!

Also, try configuring your WM so you don't need the mouse
<SUBLIMINAL> Fvwm2 is a great WM! </SUBLIMINAL> :)
I think if my mouse froze I'd never know it until I started my browser.
It'd be another week before I bothered to fix it.
