I was trying to check ftp.fb9dv.uni-duisburg.de, but they had a head
crash lately and the archive not quite up to date currently.The french
mirror (ftp.ibp.fr) does not follow the links. I tried some of the
other european sites but it's not easy to find symlinks of the form
<dir>/<file> -> <some/place> (<dir1>/<file> -> <dir1>/<dir2>/<file> is
easy to find, but getting <dir1>.tar.gz to look for tar's configuration
tends to create huge tar files ...). Probably you're right, we should
just use the links.

Sure; I just thought it would be easier to see the connection between
ports/ and a separate distfiles/ on the ftp archives and the user's disk
(if we do it that way). Sorry for the confusion.
