Is the CD audio output being routed through your sound card before
going to the speakers? If so, you haven't compiled a kernel for
FreeBSD that has the appropriate drivers and your sound card isn't
being initialised. Most sound cards default to having no output when
reset by power on / hard reset. (AFAIK)
