As it happens, the drive of mine that I mentioned (this is now the second
boot disk I've had on this machine) bit it last night. Started getting
messages like:

sd0(ahc0:0:0): timed out in datain phase
fatal process exception; page fault, fault V=0x18920

and a slew of the usual SCSI warnings (see the earlier posts for specifics
-- I'd put some in but the thing was so hosed that it couldn;t even log the
errors). I could hear the disk making little clicking noises (the kind it
makes when you power it up) and spinnign down and then back up over and
over. I brought tha machine down, took off the face plates and let it cool
off for an hour (the room it's in has a/c). Once ves were cool to the
touch I tried to bring it back up again, but alas, no dice. I spent a
solid 2 more hours at iut before giving up. Tried one more time this
morning but to no avail and just spent the day swapping in a new disk
(lucky I have a spare). That'll make 2 'cudas dead in about 3-4 weeks. I
am: displeased. Any suggestions (includsing recommendations for
appropriate external enclosures that'll keep these suckers cool -- I still
have a 3rd disk I want to add in to the system).
