I believe that's what the name of the configuration program is.  It may be
3c5x9cfg, and is a DOS program on the EtherDisk.  If you don't have it,
you can fetch it from ftp.3com.com in some convoluted path that I won't
repeat but should be intuitive.  :)

If you set zp0 to match and it doesn't work, try the other slot; if that's
no go, make sure there are no conflicts with unsupported devices on
the system.  It's also possible that your laptop's PCIC
controller may not be compatible with the system.  This must be a
3c589A, B, or C; the 3c589D rev is *not* supported.
