I'm pretty sure that this is a bug, and that it's not restricted to Adelaide :-) It happens to me, though, and I'm sort of half-heartedly trying to track it. My current status is: I'm calling with CHAP authentication, on a permanent connection, and it works fine nearly every time (modulo some problems the ISP had with their router, which initially looked like the same problem). If, however, the line drops, I *cannot* reconnect. The machine tried 539 times the other night (ouch), so I have temporarily modified ppp so it doesn't ever try to redial. Obviously not the solution. If you want to give me a call, we can talk about it. Greg -- Greg Lehey LEMIS grog@lemis.com PO Box 460 Tel: +61-8-8388-8286 Echunga SA 5153 Fax: +61-8-8388-8725 Australia
