On a burnt CD?  I'd love to see that.  (And no CD-RWs)  

Generally you burn the CD on a FreeBSD machine s you get the RockRidge
extensions, or I think there is an option to mkisofs that specifies
lowercase filenames.

You need to configure pppd's device.  See the pppd manpage.
