But the shiny new build instructions at
http://www.mozilla.org/build/unix.html say:

* egcs version ? 1.0.3 (recommended), gcc version 2.7.2.x (2.8.x still
  has some bugs), or your platform's native C/C++ compiler.

Well, if it works, it works.
