I've built it right from the sources because of horror stories as yours
in the list. It just works, except I'm having strange xterm problem, the
red color is now bright green and green is some dark violet. After some
playing replaced the xterm binary with previous 3.3.6 one which works as
expected. It's not termcap problem or such.
