I figured this one out after going through the LINT file.  I just wanted
to update in case anyone else came across this.  

I had to add the COMPAT_LINUX option in the kernel and then install the
/usr/ports/emulators/linux_base port.  This installed glibc (and a
bunch of other Linux stuff).  Star Office 5.2 installed OK after that.

I also added the EXT2FS option in the kernel but I have no idea if it
is neccessary.
