The script determined which platform it was running on and extracted the correct bits for that architecture and operating system. Before anyone gets their undies in a bundle over this, it might be worth- while to coordinate with the Open Packages folks, who seem to be working on similar issues. -- "Where am I, and what am I doing in this handbasket?"
