In fact I have done that. We have a set of protocol tracing and dumping
tools that can be plugged together using pipes and that sit on an ATM
driver that catches ATM cells from the network and assigns them a time
stamp. Really nice to understand how ATM works and to find problems.
This would need some work to bring it up to date (with respect to FreeBSD
and protocols) - last changes where some tim ago.
