Good to hear that you are a little bit further than a few days ago :-)

sshd is normally started by /etc/rc.conf (loading standard daemons), which
contains sshd_enable="YES"
You may want to change this to sshd_enable="NO".

Since you are saying that sshd is initialized twice, there's probably a
startupscript in /usr/local/etc/ (local package initialization) that starts
the new sshd daemon in /usr/local/sbin
