Whether you use ports or not, first get rid of any other apache
install and all modules.  Next install apache+mod_ssl with DSO
enabled, *then* build and install your other modules.  Activate them
as usual using the httpd.conf configs.

The ports do it rather nicely _if you do it in the proper order_.
