When I unloaded linux.ko I was able to reproduce the problem.  In order to
run Linux programs, that kernel module has to be loaded (or you could
compile it as a permanent part of the kernel).  Please see section 20.2 of
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/linuxemu-lbc-install.html
for instructions.
