We *have* to get rid of scanfs, and length uglynesses.

This is C++ god damnit! What's the idea of using char* for strings in
a language where you have operable string classes?

Really ugly. I've tried to get around that before, but hit the wall of
the design of the classes themselves. Everything is scan()-oriented
instead of stream oriented. :(
