Gimp certainly will work.  You can install either graphics/gimp1 or
graphics/gimp-devel.

You shouldn't define this on -STABLE.

You _absolutely_ cannot define this if you want to run GNOME or any Gtk+
applications.   Remove the two options above, then rebuild and reinstall
world.  You should be set.
