I see, but the checksum problem was not the only reason, actually.
First, original RD files are readable themselves, so only part of
developers would need those converted HTML files and the majority
would want the option (and the dependencies) turned off by default.
Secondly, the new behavior on i386 had already been tested on the
alpha cluster (and sparc64).  These are why I decided to turn the
option off.
