There is a page in the manual that tells you how to do this (or is it the FAQ, hold on...) here you go: http://freebsd.unixtech.be/gnome/docs/faq2.html#q5 in the gnome Faq...Removes all Gnome 1.x and 2.x Read it first, and get this confirmed by someone who knows a bit more about FBSD than I.
