Hi,

I had an ATI RageIIc or RageII in my AS 1000A 5/400 and that worked just
fine with GNOME, although it was a bit slow on that machine (no
acceleration?)  I would guess that most older Rage-based ATI chipsets will
work just fine as well.  I also had a Matrox Millenium [2] card in too
earlier that worked OK.  You can find some for around $10 on eBay, go for
a 4MB or 8MB model.  Matrox Mystique might also work but I had flashed
mine to a Mac BIOS and hadn't tested in the AS.
