HighPoint Technologies IDE controllers... bleh. I've had very bad luck
with these things in the past, but maybe I'm just not going about it the
right way. HPT-366 + ARCO DupliDisk hardware IDE RAID = major mistake... No
DOS driver for the HPT, ARCO's software doesn't work under Windows. When I
finally did get things to work, ARCO's software said it was gonna take
roughly 27 years to mirror one 40 Gig Maxtor to the other 40 Gig Maxtor in
the DupliDisk caddie. NOT acceptable.

Aside from that point, here's a couple of ideas:

1. Maybe there's a driver for the controller for FreeBSD somewhere? I know
that they generally produce drivers for Linux, so there may be hope for a
specific driver out there.

2. If that doesn't work, why not try installing FreeBSD with the drive
connected to the ATA-100 controller? Crazy as it seems, that might actually
fix the problem. I know that Promise tells users that reformat a drive when
moving it from one controller to another to prevent compatiblity issues.
Maybe you're running into one of those issues here...
