and specially art. 11.16.3.2

probably not so very userfriendly shutting down X before zzz

going back to apm and disabling acpi is also a no option at least for me, my 
Acer do not even find it's hardwar without acpi and is unusable then

so for me fortunately I do not depend on battery and can live with AC at work 
and at home
