I vaguely remember this bug..
it was due to routed using the wrong data on the default route
and the kernel actualyy trusting it..

both bugs were fixed in later versions..

I would suggest that an upgrade to 2.2.6 (or 2.2.7 when it comes out) 
might be a good investment.
