I think the Linux JDK 1.4 will crash on FreeBSD unless you run it as root
(ouch).  There have been some discussion of this on the list, I suggest
reading the archives for more information - hopefully someone has a
workaround for this.

The native jdk 1.4 saw the first commits yesterday.  Its far from even
being a patchset candidate at this stage though.
