Hi,

Yes, getting X up and running can be a pain. I've done it a few times
with different bits of hardware, so I may be able to help, but I'm no
guru...

Thing 1:	You have some sort of natty diamond stealth card, which
I know nothing about. Go through the READMEs and the
hardware manual to find out what the graphics chip in the
card is (S3?) and if the precise card is supported by
XFree or if the card can do 100% emulation of some
		other card which is supported.

Thing 2:	Get the right server. Probably XF86_S3, if the card isn't
supported, you'll be stuck with XF86_VGA16.

Thing 3:	crank up xf86config

Thing 4:	If that isn't cooking, e-mail me with the X start-up
output and a copy of your XF86Config, and I'll see if I can
		make anything of it.

One of the machines I eventually failed to get going with any sort of
worthwhile graphics had a Diamond card in it. They seem to change models
about every 20 minutes. That card (some sort of PCI thing) was too new
for XFree to have caught up with it, but too old for Diamond to produce
NT drivers... :-(

Regards,

John
