Yes, but a graceful shutdown means that some log entries may take a long
time to be written.  So you also have to wait quite a while after you
send your signal.

Basically, it seems that the most reliable way to handle Apache log
rotation under FreeBSD is to use the rotatelogs program supplied with
Apache.
