Unless you have a very complicated network routed should be disabled.
If you have a very complicated network, gated should be enabled.
So, yes, turn off routed.

wu-ftpd thing I believe.  It's in the ports.  As an aside, the stock
ftp in 2.2.5+ is really cool.

Don't know but a quick scan of passwd.c should tell you.
