Yes, I'm currently discussing it with Marcel.  The port will soon
either be marked BROKEN (with an appropriate message) for non-current
or will be fixed to work without the patch.

It's easy enough to work without the patch and I expect that to
happen.  Since the port was a little controversial I don't want to
touch it until I know what Marcel wants to do with it, though.
