You should also read some of the archives on problems people have had. When you read /usr/src/UPDATING, it will probably tell you to upgrade to 4.0-Stable, since there were a number of things fixed in the early versions of Stable that makes upgrading much easier. Kent Someone who tried updating and ended up doing a clean install.
