This might be a dafault option. You can override it in
your /etc/X11/xorg.conf by setting

	Option "DPMS" "false"

in the section "Monitor" where you define the values
for your monitor. I had a similar experience with an
21" CRT Eizo F980 going to sleep unintendedly. :-)
