When I try to run ppp in direct mode, or use it as a user shell (this is assuming that the user is member of group network), I get an error message: You may not use ppp in this mode with this label. I am trying to make this config do static IP. Here is my ppp.conf file: default: set debug phase lcp chat set timeout 0 rgppp: set ifaddr 204.214.110.223 204.214.119.254 255.255.255.0 enable proxy Here is my ppp.linkup file: rgppp: add 204.214.119.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 HISADDR When user rgppp logs in, his shell is: /etc/ppp/ppp-rgppp Here is the ppp-rgppp script: #!/bin/sh IDENT=`echo $0 | sed -e 's/^.*-\(.*\)$/\1/'` CALLEDAS="$IDENT" TTY=`tty` if [ x$IDENT = xdialup ]; then IDENT=`basename $TTY` fi echo "PPP for $CALLEDAS on $TTY" echo "Starting PPP for $IDENT" exec /usr/sbin/ppp -direct -alias $IDENT After I telnet to greymalkin.com, login as rgppp, I get this: login: rgppp Password: Last login: Wed Jul 8 18:34:58 from harborside Copyright (c) 1980, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994 The Regents of the University of California.
