On my FreeBSD 4.2-RELEASE box, it freezes at Local package initialization: The only way for it to continue and for me to get to a prompt that I know of is to hit <ctrl-c>. This only started happening after I recompiled my kernel, but then again it was after a reboot, so it might have not been the kernel recompile.
