Subject: Wireless hiccup when ifconfig_xl0 enabled...

I have a laptop and usually want to connect wirelessly to the Internet. However, once in awhile I also want to connect it directly via Ethernet by physically hooking into my home network.

In the rc.conf file I have both the ifconfig_xl0 and ifconfig_wi0 statements present. When I am mobile this does not present a problem and my laptop starts up nicely.

However, if I startup the laptop when I am not connected to the Ethernet, the startup hangs for 2 minutes before continuing. When I comment out or remove the line containing the ifconfig_xl0 statement the startup is quick like it should be.

How can I have both statements enabled so that it will automatically choose the right connection on startup without having it do a hiccup for two minutes when I am on the move, e.g. wireless?

Thanks in advance for your help.
