Kind of odd, since most of what the average user does with a desktop OS has nothing to do with Web browsing. I'd say that Netscape's incompetence was responsible for their failure. Yes, Microsoft worried about them, but Microsoft worries about _everyone_; that's how they stay on top. Netscape doomed itself, though, and would have failed even if Microsoft had ignored the company entirely.
