System is 4.3.0, XFree86 is 4.0.3_3 rebuilt and reinstalled from the ports
collection yesterday lunchtime.

When run from a userid other than root, XFree reports "unable to open
/var/log/XFree86.0.log". Permissions for this file were 644,root,wheel.
Amending the permissions to 666,root,wheel and restarting resulted in:

xf86OpenConsole: Server must be suid root

Rather than just hacking my way through this, can anyone offer a suggestion
regarding which install step I missed ?

Thanks in advance,
H.
