Excuse me?

1. Why wasn't this discussed on -doc?

2. Why wasn't this done as a repo copy?

I'm going to be away for about 48 hours, natch. Could I ask a repo master
to

  (a) Freeze the doc/ tree from any further commits until this is resolved.

  (b) Consider how much work it's going to be to undo this, and do it as a
       repo copy

  (c) Feel free to do it as a repo copy in my absence.
