Absolutely! I made the change a couple years ago. It's been a great
learning experience. That's the key - you have to have the attitude 
that you're going into this to learn something new, not just point and 
click your way around and never really know whats going on.

Visit http://www.freebsd.org and others and learn as much as possible
before diving in, then you'll be able to make the right decistion, whether
or not FBSD is for you.
