I have had it happen but thankfully not very often ....95% of the time when I get a deceased floppy I just whack in another one with the same files & voila !!!. I did mess around with local FTP installs a while back but didn't get anywhere (like all things unix its undoubtedly simple but not well explained) Maybe I could get it to work now but why bother when I have a permanent connection ?? The regular CD install is definitely the easiest if you have a good CD (some of the Tesla ones are trouble), & FTP from someplace else works fine as long as you have a reasonable permanent connection.
