Hi all, I see there have been some issues with people using GDM 2.4... well I'm having a different one! I installed FreeBSD 5.1 on a 2nd hand laptop a few weeks ago. Gnome 2.2 installed from ports fine, and I was able to enable GDM by using the startup script /usr/X11R6/etc/rc.d/gdm.sh. Last week I decided to format and reinstall. I cvsup'd my ports almost immediately after install, and installed the Gnome2 port, which turned out to be Gnome 2.4 (which I had read wasn't going to be in ports until October...) Anyway, when running GDM (version 2.4.4.1), either from the startup script, or directly from the command line as root, it segfaults (good ol' sig 11). It seems to start running, then dies... the X server starts, but the login screen doesn't appear, then gdm segfaults and I'm left back at my console prompt. X works fine otherwise, I can launch a Gnome 2.4 session with 'startx'. I've also tried deleting my gdm.conf file and using the factory one to no avail. I'd appreciate anyone who can shed some light on this! Regards, John.
