You really should only answer questions about someone's intent when
they are addressed to you.

How anyone with any experience doing IT could claim that you don't
need those skills for Windows is beyond me. To get email and browsing
working on Windows, you need an expert to set everything up - and
maintain everything - for you. It's just that there are enough Windows
boxes around that it pays for your typical ISP to hire the expert(s).

No, because the time I'm measuring isn't CPU time, but user
time. Doing wm things with a paned window manager takes the user less
time than doing the same things with a framed window manager. For
example, the GOMS measure for changing the active window with my
current window manager is 1.75 seconds, but it's 3.05 seconds for a
Windows-style interface, dropping to 2.85 if you have a followmouse
framed manager. Those all assume the processor is infintely fast;
adding processor delays tilts the difference even more against framed
managers.
