There must me more to it than that -- I cannot get rpc.statd to complain
about unaligned accesses here.  Perhaps its something about your
/var/db/statd.status file?

Can you build it with symbols, cause a coredump (uac -s or  sysctl
machdep.unaligned_sigbus=1), and show us a backtrace?
