You must be using XFree86 version 3.1.2 for your card to work.  The
answers to your questions will be found in the README.S3 and other
files in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc

you will want to experiment with these options in your video device
section.

    Option	"Diamond"
    Option	"dac_8_bit"
    Option	"nolinear"
    Option	"slow_vram"
