As far as I know, I'm the only one actively working on the msdosfs
code. The rewritten msdosfs (now 'vfatfs') is mostly complete in
essentials, but I'm still reconsidering the way VFAT support is
implemented, and trying out various strategies for handling the
metadata updates so as to best support 'fsck'-style recovery.

However, a couple of weeks ago, I took a re-look at working in
various fixes to the existing msdosfs. (I've already found and
noted various bug fixes, and have some patches sent to me by others.
There are also some NetBSD changes that can be brought across.)

If there is sufficient interest, I don't mind putting the new code
on hold for a while and bringing out a revision to the existing
msdosfs. However, if I'm going to do this, I'll need firm undertakings
from a reasonable number of people (presently with reproducible
msdosfs problems) to beta test the revisions. (On the understanding
that 'beta test' in this context may translate to 'lose a few
partitions' in the process.)

If anyone is particularly interested in seeing a revised msdosfs
within the next few weeks, please email me directly.
