I recompiled the kernel so that it would recognize my ps/2 mouse. I also made the vt220 the default terminal in the kernel. But when the system comes up, why does it say Terminal type? [cons25] and not [vt220]? Also, now the backspace key and the delete doesn't erase the previous character. When I press the backspace key I get something like ^?, and when I press the delete key I get something like ^]]. What's gone wrong here? I installed the X-user distribution, but when when I type startx at the prompt I get the following: startx: Command not found. And when I type xf86config, I get xf86config: Command not found. I've checked and these programs are on my system. What could be wrong, I installed X. Also, I would like to know how do I test to see if my modem is working? I know there is a program called seyon, but that requires X, and I can't get X to run. Is there some modem program that runs without X? -Sandip
