I have the same problem - I'm running 2.1.0R CD distribution, and at random
times during an X session, the keyboard just freezes up.  Executing 'kbd_mode'
doesn't fix the problem either.  Logging in remotely and killing the X server
clears up the difficulty though, or executing the above commandline.
