I tend to agree, and we would want to ask Kenneth Merry to run tests of that
for
us as his system now works with the 3940 in all other respects. By this I mean
I believe he can now run the SMP kernel with APIC_IO enabled, and the 3940
booting the system properly.

That is still an unknown for the system that currently fails with the
3940. The primary issue is that the BIOS fails to create accurate information
in the MP table it builds (or the problem might be that the table is hard coded
in the ROM and thus CAN'T build info about a bridged PCI card) I just
sent another patch to its owner for testing as to whether the routing is there
even though the info isn't, Ill post as soon as we know. My best guess is that
the physical routing is there, but that the MP table is incomplete.
