In the mouse selection menu of the sysinstall, the text says:

"...Note that for PS/2 mice, a kernel recompile is required!..."

This is not true now. Shall we say:

"...Note that for PS/2 mice, you need to enable the psm driver in the
user configuration menu when booting the system next time..."

or something to that effect? (correct my pidgin English :-)
