Hello

2 weeks ago, I've decided to try FreeBSD on my computer .
Everything during the installation was OK, and I could use and try
lot of things on it. It was great !
And then I've decided to re-build my kernel. I made it, and then
I reboot my computer. And that was the start of all my troubles :

At boot time, I get the message : "CPU class not configured".(Well
ok, I must have done something wrong when editing the kernel configuration
file...). But now, how can I repair it ?

- if I boot with options "-cv", the same message appear, and don't let
me go to FreeBSD, it simply reboot after 15 seconds

- if I write on prompt boot: the following command
boot: 0:wd(3,a)?
to see where are the kernel I can boot on, I get the list
kernel, kernel.GENERIC, kernel.old
So I write
0:wd(3,a)kernel.GENERIC
and it seems "almost" work, but finally, I get "panic: cannot mount root"

- I tried then to boot from a floppy and use the fixit mode (also
with the 2nd "live" CDROM from the Walnut creek distribution).
I get in Fixit mode, and mount my FreeBSD partition :
Fixit> mount /dev/wd0s3 /mnt
Fixit> cd /mnt
Fixit> ls kernel*
kernel
kernel.GENERIC
kernel.config
kernel.old

If I want to have my old Generic kernel instead of the new troubled kernel,
I just have to copy kernel.GENERIC into kernel, right ?
but kernel is in mode r-xr-xr-x, and I *can't* do 'rm', 'mv', 'chmod 777'...
on it to copy kernel.GENERIC, all I get is an "Operation not permitted"
I tried to know what was my identity when beeing in mode "Fixed", but
I just get an obscure message saying it couldn't get my identity.

So what can I do ???
Could someone PLEASE help me ??? I can't use FreeBSD anymore, and I'm
missing it... :-(

Il est plus simple d'écrire un programme faux que d'en comprendre un qui marche.
