ok, from an architecture point of view it's desirable, but recoding all
of that section to suit PCI (in a consistent manner such that it integrates 
cleanly with the rest of i4b) is probably too much for me to bite off right 
now. I simply don't have a good enough grasp of the i4b package as a whole
to do it intelligently :)

Nevertheless ... I have a card I need to get going. What do you suggest ? Is 
the isa masquerading going to be more trouble than it's worth ?
