Is there a reason why 'uname -p' always reports 'i386'?

Helping someone with a cross-platform system-info script, I notice that
Linux kicks out i586 for Pentium-class CPUs, and i686 for Pentium-II class
chips. 'sysctl hw.machine' does the same.

I'll point him to 'sysctl hw.model' instead.
